When you take a good look around, it’s not hard to find God in everyday life.

*

Where I find God #10 - In other Unlikely Christians, like my buddy Matt.

*

A couple of years ago the chances of this guy setting foot inside a church were kind of like mine - Slim to not gonna happen.  Chances of becoming a Christian?  Same odds but you could take the slim part out.

*

But then……….Life Change.

*

Several weeks ago this same guy, the guy who years earlier wanted nothing to do with church, went with his church to be a part of the good works they are doing in Haiti.  The below pic is him hanging out with the kids at an orphanage the church helps support.

*

*

Life Change!

*

It’s powerful stuff!

*

I’ve said it before, in fact I said it a couple of months ago  – You just can’t argue a transformed life.

*

So Where do YOU find God?

*

I invite you to send me your pictures, videos, links etc… with or without a short post of where you find God. Just e-mail me at me@unlikelychristian.com and I will post it. Who knows, it just might be your story, pic etc… that helps somebody else find God.

*

**Special Thanks to Rob @ Keystone for the pic and to Keystone Church for their addiction to Life Change and good works in Haiti.**

Where I find God #9

Where I find God #9

*

*

I try to walk the dog every morning. It’s good for me and she seems pretty disappointed when we aren’t able to. I find it’s just a good way to start the day.

*

I live in a pretty populated area near several schools so early morning traffic is pretty prevalent in these here parts. However, once I get further out on the walking trails, the sounds of suburbia lower to a faint hush. It’s then that the sounds of nature take over. The sounds of woodpeckers doing what woodpeckers do, cardinals chirping, the tops of the trees moving in the wind, turtles splashing off of their logs as I get too close for their comfort, something scurrying in the brush etc… It’s really a whole other world inside of my world. It’s a nice change.

*

When I actually take the time to quit thinking about work etc.. and let myself enjoy it, getting to that area of the walking trails is almost like getting to the destination of a mini-mini-mini vacation. I try to take my time, taking everything in, wishing it could last longer but knowing that just around the corner I will see the neighborhood again. Then the sounds of nature will be drowned out by the sounds of suburbia. And before I know it I’m back home seeing if I missed any calls on my cell, getting dressed and ready for work.

*

But at least for a moment I was able to get away from it all.

*

Even before I was a Christian, whenever I hit this part of the path I always felt a sense of comfort and peace. And now I know where it came from.

*

So Where do YOU find God?

Where I find God #8

When you take a good look around, it’s not hard to find God in everyday life.  Where I find God #8

Here’s a guest post from Chrissa!

*

*

I see the sun, flowers, grass and trees every day and most days they are just part of the scenery or background in my day. It’s not very often that I stop and really take a good look and think about how amazing they are.

*

The fact that we breathe out the very thing that plants need to live and that they do the same for us is so cool! The sun shines bright every single day without fail and also gives life to the plants and to us. The plants and flowers are all so colorful and add brightness to our lives. How awesome is our God that he provides all of these things for us?

*

Most days we go right past and don’t give them a second thought. Somedays I like to stop and take a look around me and thank God for this beautiful world he created for us to live in. Some people feel like our world was the product of some big cosmic accident. I say no to that theory. How could this world be an accident? This world is the work of our Heavenly Father and I’m so thankful! – Chrissa

Where I find God #7

Here’s one I wrote 2 years ago but I think it’s fitting for a Father’s Day Edition of Where I find God.  Hope you enjoy.

*

My daughter is 11 years old. Hurling towards teenagerdom at a startling rate.

*

I’m not really all that cool with that.

*

You always hear the saying, “They grow up so fast” and I guess the reason that you always hear it is because it’s true. The thought of having a teenage daughter freaks me out on so many levels. One of the levels is that Daddy to a teenager isn’t the same as Daddy to an elementary school girl. From early on, Daddy is a hero to a little girl. Daddy can do no wrong. Daddy doesn’t embarass her in front of her friends. Daddy is still cool etc…….. but then things change don’t they? Daddy becomes Dad.

*

I don’t want things to change.

*

Yesterday I had an errand to run and my daughter decided to come along. We took a detour and went by Sam’s Club. I didn’t really need to go there I just thought we’d grab some lunch – FREE SAMPLES SATURDAY. We started out with an appetizer of Teriyaki Beef Jerky, which was spectacular! Then on to the main course – chicken on a toothpick, BBQ meatball on a toothpick, Lemon pepper fish in a tiny little cup which we ate with a tiny little spoon. We tried to get a tiny quesadilla triangle but unfortunately they ran out. We did however finish off our dining experience with a dixie cup full of margarita – virgin of course.

*

We had a really good time, just the two of us. And then something really cool happened. As we left Sam’s my 11 year old daughter, the one hurling towards teenagerdom, grabbed hold of my hand and held it as we walked to the car.

*

I guess I’m still Daddy, at least today I was, and that, I’m pretty cool with.

*

God’s timing, as it always is, was perfect.

*

Like I mentioned, I wrote the above 2 years ago.  My daughter is now 13 so I asked her this morning if she still thinks I’m cool.  Her response, “Yeah…… you’re definitely not as dorky as some of the other dads out there.”  Yep.  Looks like I still got it!

*

Happy Father’s Day!

I know, I know, I posted this on my old site but I can’t help it!  I love this! It’s a great example/match for a Where I find God post.  I also like it because it’s an awesome example of somebody using their God given creativity and talent.

So where do you find God?

*

Here’s where Robin finds God: I see God every time my students get together in remembrance of their friend & classmate who lost his battle with cancer last year. When this group of young men and women get together, you feel Collin Zimmer’s presence. They play & laugh like siblings and I know it is thru God’s grace that these children will do great things in Collin’s memory & God’s glory.”

*

Here’s where Gladys finds God: I see God every time I look at my children and grandchildren. I gave birth to two daughter 4 yrs apart, only God could have made them because I have messed up so many small things in my life, that I surely would have messed that up to. Those two daughters have given me 5 wonderful grandsons and a granddaughter on the way. I have been by the sides of my girls through each delivery and been blessed to get the first good look at each of the babies. Only God above could have developed the complex activity within a womans womb to create such a beautiful outcome. I am looking forward to being witness to the birth of my grand daughter come Oct and again, I will witness the glory of a true and living Gods works.”

*

Thanks Robin & Gladys!
