The First Verse

Ahh……..your first verse.

They say you always remember your first verse.  Okay maybe I’m getting ‘verse’ confused with ‘love’, but who cares. Really, nobody came here to read a story about the girl in 2nd grade who checked the “NO” box on the note I passed to her.  Besides I don’t want to talk about it.  Even after I worked so hard drawing the cougar head on the cover of the note, she had the audacity to turn me down.  Yes, I drew a cougar head on the note.  Why?!?!  Look, I said I don’t want to talk about it!  I was seven!  Give me a break!  Besides, it’s her loss, right?

*

Anyway, so do you remember the first Bible Verse that jumped off the page and burned itself into your brain?

*

I do – Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

That verse spoke to me like no other verse ever had.  In hindsight, It’s probably because worry was all I ever seemed to do at the time.  I had a job where things tended to go wrong way too often and it was always out of my hands.  So a verse that told me I didn’t have to worry anymore, YES PLEASE!

*

Yep, I remember my first verse.  How bout you?  Do you remember the first verse that grabbed you?  Do tell.

*

The shading was PERFECT on that cougar head by the way, the nerve.  I guess in hindsight, maybe I should’ve gone with a Liger.
